zVM Multiple Logical Terminal Session Manager

LDEVMLTS virtualizes terminal sessions with zVM by providing you with a facility to emulate much of the multiple logical display function and features of the legacy IBM 3174 Control Unit. That means it turns a single TN3270E connection into several on the same zVM machine. It exploits the VM Logical Device Control Facility to create the multiple independent VM logged sessions.

So why would you need this when there are other session managers available? Well, this product allows the multiple sessions to the same VM machine or LPAR. Many of the others require that each different session must be bound to a different LPAR or application.

A second big reason that should you lose your remote VPN connection to zVM the LDEVMLTS sessions will survive and continue to run. You will not be placed into a FORCED DISCONNECT, then be logged off by the SYSTEM. From zVM's perspective the displays continue to exist locally.

Furthermore, this product is FAST (real FAST), since it runs on VM natively, not on another computer, not VTAM, not a Windows Server, not Linux and not as part of another costly application. The session switching occurs on the host end.

It doesn't require a client agent and a server. Only your TN3270 or x3270 app to provide a single connection to VM.

Like the original MLTS hardware the user can simply toggle through, back and forth, the different sessions by way of the "jump" key. The sessions will be re-displayed in round-robin sequential fashion (1-2-3-...8-1). Each session is saved and continues to be updated under the covers. Upon re-display, the most recent 3270 datastream sent by CP is presented to the physical terminal surface.

The emulator will present up to 8 logical sessions for each real session (connected via CP DIAL command). Each service machine will support up to 16 sets of logical sessions owned by 16 independent terminals.

User selected PA or PF key provides the "jumping" or "toggling" keys for forward and backward directions.

Keyword exits to permit a temporary disconnect or a clean detachment from the Service Machine.

Supports all versions of zVM.
